Post Empress' Death
:?: I was just wondering when the Queen was discouraged of her mother's death, I realized she only went to mass and locked herself in her room so that no one, not even her dearest inseprables could go in. I was just wondering, did eventually she allow the Duchess De Polignac to go in? If so, what do you think they discussed?

I don't think that Marie-Antoinette asked Polignac to join her during this time.
She really wanted to be alone.
But Polignac had to speak with the Queen about it afterwards , I suppose that she tried to comfort her, and that Marie-Antoinette described a beautiful portrait of her mother

Actually, I read somewhere that Madame Elisabeth comforted her a great deal at that time.

I read somewhere that Antoinette locked herself with Mme de Polignac and Mme de Lamballe. I could not check for the moment, sorry...

I am sure that they all comforted her as best they could.

Me too Therese! :D

And I remember to have read that Marie-Antoinette superbly spoke about her mother with Louis XVI a few time later, by saying for example that Marie-Thérèse had been a wonderful mother! :D

Yes, she was devastated when her mother died, as would be expected.
