She loved dogs, she always was surrounded by dogs. Mops (carlins) or small spaniels (épagneuls nains).

She enjoyed perfumes, most of all rose, iris, orange flower, lemon, vanilla, amber, cedar, lavanda, tuberose... I certainly forget something !

She enjoyed eating vanilla too, with pastries (she is a Viennese, after all!) or with her hot chocolat (triple vanilla and black berry!). She drank hot chocolate, coffee with milk, tea, water with sugar and orange flower (made by Mme de Polignac). She liked chicken and even more duck and only white meat.

She loved tender colours, but also deep red and violet (see my avatar, a portrait with a nacarat dress). Blue, tender green and white. She thought rose was not suitable for a lady in her thirties.

She played and composed music and songs. She patronized Gluck and Gretry, and preferred Salieri to Mozart. She also had a music teacher now called "the black Mozart", Saint Georges.

For instance... Mon Dieu... elle aimait tant de choses ! :D

She loved also much the children, and the theater which almost became a passion. To organize evenings was also for her an immense pleasure!

Indeed, Louis Charles ! She played on the stage of her little blue theatre, a true jewel ! She was Colette in "Le devin du village" by Rousseau. You can read the whole play here : ... rame3.html
She was Rosine in "Le barbier de Séville" de Beaumarchais.
She also played the marquise in "La gageure imprévue" by Sedaine, and had her rehersals with the author himself.
Did she play in "Le dormeur éveillé" de Pontalis ? She had it performed in Trianon, but I don't recall if she was in ?

And she liked to be disguised as a keeper of a bar and to manage a lemonade stand :D

I recognize the name of the part, but I do not know if she had a role... :?

She enjoyed riding, although she was not as passionate about it as the Bourbons, yet they say she rode magnificently.

She enjoyed embroidery and needlepoint, and gardening.

Oh yes ! And she knitted a lot too ! She asked for her knitting at the conciergerie, for she was making stockings for her son (according to Mme Royale), but those monsters refused ! They were afraid she could hurt herself, they said ! :?

She had drawings lessons too. Paroy, a painter, tells in his memoirs a story about some painting Antoinette made.

As a child, Marie loved her sister Maria Carolina. Lamballe sort of became her replacement, also Marie when she first arrived as a Dauphine in France, she would play with the maid's children very often. :D

Indeed, Princess de Lamballe replaced Marie Caroline, in a way, but, later, Gabrielle de Polignac would deeper.

In fact Marie-Antoinette liked almost all that enabled her to flee the protocols of Versailles, and to have fun... to benefit from the life! :D
She also wanted just live like a girl, a woman, and a normal mother... how she was right! :o

I think the people of France should have understood that. I think it's soo beautiful that the queen was put together by her friendships especially with her and Polignac, how beautiful it was between them!

People perfectly understood this, I think, dear ! Among the aristocracy, those "inseparable" friendships between ladies were very common.

But Marie Antoinette's friendships, female as male, were used for political purposes. Through her friendships, she was portrayed a terrible woman, a powerful queen, who was powerful enough to afford favorites, while her powerless husband was not !
