|Post subject:||Amazing Drama|
The whole story of Marie and the Revolution
is an amazing story,
A huge drama which had so many implications for Europe and the world.
The revolution turned everything upside down.
The Imperial powers failed at Valmy to defeat the revolutionaries and open a way to Paris, instead they turned and ran, before the French bombardment.
The revolution was victorious, the radicals and extremists were vindicated and the guillotines continued their grisly work. Meanwhile all of Europe looked on in horror as the executions continued and even the King and Queen climbed up onto the scaffold.
I wonder , with all the modern tourism and digital cameras etc, has no one put together a collection of photos of the scenes of these dramas, Versailles, the palaces, the parks, that were the places and settings of all these dramas.

Interesting thought. There should be more photos of these places of great suffering. But also of grandeur and happiness. I hope there are more books and pictures of these places in the future!

Surely , with digi photography being so
easy and available now, someone could
go to Paris and Versailles and give us a
digital tour of all these historic sights
with ref to the events of history.
Maybe someone on the forum lives close
to these historic areas, or perhaps some visiting Americans could fulfill the task, they are good at this kind of thing.
( I remember an American couple visiting Hawarth in Yorkshire and posting a digital travelogue of the Bronte country, it
The pics could then be uploaded to image venue and the thumbs posted to the forum.... with perhaps a pre written commentary
It could be fun !

Well, now you talk about pictures, I offer mine to be posted if you want. I tell you now what I hava and if you are interested in, just let me know what I should do to post them (or who to send them or whatever I should do).
I have pictures of:
1.- Saint Denis
2.- Expiatory Chapel
4.- Versailles (last July I took 524 pictures in one day ) I visited the palace, both trianons and Hameau so I have not pictures of the woods between the palace and the Trianons.
5.- Rue Saint Honore (I even dared to take a picture of Roberpierre's house )
6.- Tuilleries (also have several from inside the Louvre but last year I did not know the exact rooms MA was in, so if you tell me where she was, maybe I have something)
7.- Carnavalet Museum. I say I took a picture of nearly everything that had once belonged to the Royal family while being in the Temple.
8.- Also been to Fontainebleau and have a picture of the bedroom MA never used but redecored (ceiling and doors) and many regarding Napoleon but I do not know if they are of your interest.
I have more pictures of Paris, but just let me know if they are useful for you.
All the best and nice week to all!

gosh, that sounds like quite a collection !
you could post them as thumbnails using
image venue, but that might take a long time.
An easier way would be to put the photos into
say 3 seperate folders then go here
click the browse, find the folder and upload
each one seperately
After each upload you will get a code
that you can highlight and save
ie press control then c
and paste the code into this thread
Ive made a few historical type e mails
you might be interested in but I need an
e mail addy to send them to
If you re interested reply
to firstname.lastname@example.org and Ill send
Good luck with the uploading !
Ps when you ve got the pics into a folder
check the size ..... ie megs,
right click on the folder and hit properties
you should see the meg size in there
I d try and keep each folder below 25 megs
to make the upload easier.
If your individual pics are big (say a meg or so ) it might be an idea to "send " your photos to documents, ie make copies of them
then resize the copies using the resizing tool
which will prob get them down to 80 k each
to make the upload easier
hope things work out !

correction .... I said put the pics into 3 folders then go to megashare etc
But first it would be best to zip the folders using winzip, thatway they upload
Hope we see them sometime .... (before Xmas ! )

If your photos are relevant to Marie Antoinette, which they obviously are, there is no reason not to upload them to the gallery here. You will need to make a new account at the gallery, and I may create some new folders to put them in, but all pictures that relate in some way to Antoinette are welcome there.
