Post Visit at the Conciergerie
Last week I went to Paris for a short holiday with my boyfried, and I decided to visit the Conciergerie in order to see where Marie Antoinette spent her last months...
Well, for a M.A's admirer like me, the visit is quite depressing...  there is a little room with the reconstruction of the queen's cell, the furnitures are not original, but you can easily imagine how life could be terrible in that place. In the cell there are also some objects used by M.A. during the detemption: the last letter she wrote to Madame Elisabeth, a linen, napkin, a little crucifix, and a little jug she used for drinking some water before leaving the prison for the scaffold.
The original cell used by Marie Antoinette was transformed into a expiatori chapel after the restauration in 1815. It is very sad to think that a great qeen like her finished her life in such an horrible place

I think we all very well know also the medieval history of Conciergerie and its present state.
But this is after all Marie Antoinette site and that special period of the Révolution means terrible things to us.

What your argument is based on, knowing that Marie Antoinette wouldn't agree, Standingonthetop?

P.S.1. Thank you for your description Vittoria.

P.S.2.Just in general regarding this summer and autumn season: Oh, those masses of teenager girls at the moment, who have their little fantasies of being La Reine, just like little Kirsten in her pink and pastries

Obviously, you never read any of her letters, standingonthetop... for she constantly asked people to care for her, on the contrary. "Oh, oui, aimez-moi toujours", she wrote to Mme de Polignac.

I believe the subject of visiting La Reine's cell at the Conciergerie has been brought up at one time or another.
It'll be three years in July that I went to Paris and my visit to the Conciergerie. Vittoria, I could clearly picture the description of her cell when you wrote about it. Taking a picture anywhere inside the Conciergerie is challenge since it's not well lighted throughout the building. I have a picture of La Reine's initials on the stained glass window but the one of Louis XVI and Mme Elisabeth's window never came out. :(

Whatever ! "Aimez-moi toujours" doesn' t mean she was not brave !
I am sure you shouldn't feel so sad because i think she would'nt let you do !
