Yes, Marja Vera, it can be that sometimes it looks like I (and maybe others) take the defence of the royal family a priori, but it's just because I'm passionate when I hear prejudices against MA, who is one of the charachters I love most in history, from a human point of view. But I have a high opinion of revolutionary ideals, which luckily are the ones on which our democratic societies today are based!

This is exactly what I think. I am fascinated by Marie Antoinette, with her personality, not so with her political ideals.

Yes, exactly! And probably this contrast between her personality, which I like so much, and her political ideas, which I can't agree with, is what makes her even more a tragic charachter to me

Welcome to these fantastic forums Therese_la_aimee, I think I could live without the scandal and intrigue! However the carriages, high coifs and the large dresses I could live in! Not to forget the tiny dainty little shoes. :)

Again, welcome! So good to see another bright spirit among us!

I don't think I'd have much of a problem with the scandal!

Welcome Therese! :)
Well, I think the intrigue and gossip is still here, unfortunately  But otherwise, I understand you, sometimes I also think I was born in the wrong period
