 Philippe-Egalité
more than Robespierre and Danton, this man was vile treasonous of the monarchy and a French aristocracy. It is one of the great culprits of the atrocities committed during the revolution.

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
Indeed: he worked half his life to take the place of the royal family. I took advantage from the Revolution (weel, obviously until he was killed himself) and behaved in a vile way. He also voted for the King's death.

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
I feel that Philippe Egalité was quite a stupid person. I think than, while he was taken to the scaffhold the crowd laghed at him, saying sarcastically "I vote for death". I know that's cruel, but I find it a bit funny in a way.

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
Well it is ironic since you are indeed royal voting for your cousin's death. I see the humor in it. However, what he did was despicable and he is a coward for doing so.

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
It can be considered an example of what is usually called "tragic irony"

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
philippe sided with the revolutionaries in order to save himself, he was a selfish, self righteous, (forgive me for saying so,) BASTARD. he along with Comte de Artoies toned down their own wardrobes to "fit in" amonst the others. hes a horrible man.

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
They were both vapid and cowards! It's pathetic, crawling over your own cousin and your own brother just to save your own skin! It is absolutely despicable, cruel, selfish and I emphasize selfish horrendous and hateful! They were no better than the revolutionary leaders themselves!

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
I find it mind boggling. They were all animals then! It infuriates me how a nation could descend into barbaric ways and maintain that!

 Re: Philippe-Egalité
It confuses me as to a whole nation could become animals in a time period of less than four years. 1785 The necklace affair. To the start of the revolution 1789. And how it didn't really end until perhaps 1815.
