Yes I know!

You mentioned before the items under Robespierre's mattress. What other items, besides the Queen's last letter, did they find?

Fascination with those he hated...one more indication of a very unsound mind.

Indeed... Maybe Robespierre was some crypto-royalist ? Or just a weird collector.

Wasn't there one of Louis XVII's kid gloves as well? Rosalie recalled that the Queen had a miniature of Louis-Charles kept inside one of his gloves which she wore round her neck (hidden under her bodice) until at least a few days before she was executed. I would have thought that they would have found these items when they exhumed MA, but I have never come across mention of it, which suggests that they were taken from her either before or after she died. Does anyone know? Was Robespierre's glove was the same one that MA wore, or it's partner?

There were rumors that Robespierre planned to marry Madame Royale, and he went to visit her at the Temple. He was a very strange man.

Oh, she was a teenager and he was a grown man. But they say he wanted to restore the monarchy, and was corresponding with Louis XVIII. He had bizarre plans.....

I don't even consider him as being a capable ruler...Napoleon did good things, Louis XVI and Louis XVIII also, but what did RObespierre actualy did?

I'm a republican (not from the american republicans!), I believe in a republican Democracy and not in a monarchy (even that in those days a monarch isn't as powerful as 100 years ago)... I think that people have the rigth to choose their leaders but Robespierre's regime wasn't a republic or a monarchy...It was an bloody anarchy!
