It wa akin to refusing a wedding present, as Queens were always foreign and as such the embodiment of a foreign power.

True, most queens were foreign. Thank heaven a war did not start over this!

im reading about The Rules of the Petit Trianon, and how MA replaced her dames du toilette with Madame Bertin and this caused an amazing upset, anyone know anything more about this?

The impression I have in general is that many people of the court were upset they did not partake in activities such as the Rising Ceremony because people could be in contact of the Queen due to their status and not whether or not the Queen liked them. Status was everything at the time. Now that formalities are removed, the court wants to be at the exclusive Petit Trianon, however their status doesn't matter because the Queen did not invite them.

I don't know whether or not status coming back is a good thing or not. Well, it always has been around it never really died, it just changed.

Earlier someone said that Louis XVI would wake up early and then return to bed a couple of hours later. Does anyone know what time specifically he woke up?

I believe he would get up at nine or eight o' clock and he would go work on locks and go back at eleven o' clock for the rising ceremony.
