Louis XVI loved books. He had a library that was blue and gold. The library had eight thousand books. About 580 of the books were in English. A majority of his books were non fiction. He had the infamous book Tom Jones. His favorite book was Robinson Crusoe.

What's infamous about Tom Jones? It's a pretty good book, funny too.

It was infamous as in nortoriously inappropriate.I meant inappropriate as in bawdy. Not as in pornographic.

Well, it's definitely a bawdy book, but not inappropriate for its time or now either. It isn't pornographic. As literature, Tom Jones has stood the test of time. Pamela, another novel of the time period, took a high moral tone, but has passed into obscurity.

Didn't Louis' books become the basis for the Biblioteque Nationale? I thought I read that somewhere.
