I understand that the French Crown Jewels disappeared during the revolution. I''ve heard that they included what today is the 'Hope' diamond, and a solid silver throne. I've seen photos of a rather crude looking crown with cabuchon jewels mounted on it.

Does anyone know any more about the French crown jewels?

The Hope Diamond is currently on display at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum in Washington, DC. I've seen a few times and it's stunning.
More from this blog, Paris Atelier:
A few of the items are also at the Smithsonian. Enjoy!

These diamonds are very beautiful. This article is a good summary on the royal jewels. Thanks!

Arietta - I feel like a kid at Christmas who just opened a beautiful present. Thank you so much for the 'French Crown Jewels' article. So interesting and beautiful.

Amazing, I have never seen so many beautiful pieces of jewelery! One or two of them looked so fake I guess because no one nowadays would have so many types of jewels to plaster all over a crown but for the most part absolutely dazzling.
Merci beaucoup !!!!
