That may well be. However, I think that Chalon (among others) hits the nail on the head when writing that MA during her imprisonment months might have regretted a certain disdain she displayed towards her husband during her youth.

No doubt, which contradicts nothing of what I wrote. She did feel guilty and with reason. She is not without reproach, but he annoyed her, patience not being her principal virtue. She found him "mou". (dull)
