Post subject:  Wanna make some Old Regime bread?

I finally got around to putting up a few pages on eighteenth century French breads:

There's bread for households without servants, with them (for master and for servant), soldiers, church and a bunch of fashionable pains mollets, which at first were mainly eaten by the rich. Also a few especially for soup.

Was this what MA ate? Maybe not. A few were no longer made by 1782, and she brought a baker from home who probably made far finer bread than the French were eating then.

If any bakers here are tempted to give some a try, I'd love to see a few pix. :)

Jim, this is fascinating! What a treasure trove of information you have here! I always count on you to add the pertinent touches on the conversation - your intellect always obvoius. Your site here is awsome and I plan on looking at it further.
