Post Courtier Parties?
I am writing a novel and have found that I still do not know much about the Rococo/Georgian period. For instance, did the courtier's of Versailles throw parties, and if they did, where? Was it appropriate to host a party in your apartments, or was there someplace they all must have been thrown? Were there certain people that had to be invited each time?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Post Re: Courtier Parties?
Vast subject and of course these things were strictly ruled by etiquette..who one invited, where they sat, who they danced with etc etc

Generally speaking such parties were held in the private homes or appartments of the hosts. Rarely were they held elsewhere, apart from largescale parties hosted by the the Royal couple, which were sometimes held at Trianon or at the Versailles opéra.

I suggest you buy a specialist book on entertaining in the 18th century as such a book most definitely exists.
