I think it depends on the period and the individual monarchs. for example, Louis XV and Louis XVI seem to me more interesting than the hanovers; but with Louis XIV and the stuarts, now that's a close one. the stuarts were juicy.

But Georges III and IV were Hanovers and they were thoroughly entertaining, as was Victoria, don't ya think?

Not my style of entertainment, but we say in Israel, you cannot argue about taste or smell...

My favorite story about George III is that once (after he had gone mad) he thought a tree was Frederick The Great

Poor George III! This actually never happened (much like the "Let them eat cake" story). He did however do some pretty peculiar things such as trying to ride his horse into a chapel!

Anyway, to answer the question, I find the British Royals more interesting, but then I don't know much about the French Royals aside from Louis and Antoinette.

But George III is my favourite, he loved books, much like myself and a good boiled egg in the mornings!

I've never heard of the Frederick the Great incident, but I thought he did talk to a tree?

I have always found French history much more interestign than British which is strange because I AM British. It just seems to have more colour though.

Yes, poor George III. He did do some bizarre things when he was ill which really upset those who were close to him. They didn't understand what was going on and they were at a loss as to how to deal with these peculiar behaviours within the constraints of etiquette and decorum. Frances Burney was at court at the time and mentions it in her memoirs.
