I wonder if she disliked orange because of her hair colour? If she did have a hint of 'unfashionable' red in her hair she may have wanted to steer clear of anything which might highlight that? Of course, she may quite simply, have not liked orange!

Yay, I have something in common with Marie-Antoinette!! *So very happy* :D That is a very reasonable analegy (sp?).

Indeed, she enjoyed pale pink (not as in Sofia Coppola's movie ! ), but she stopped wearing this colour once aged 3O. I love to see her in deep reds, such as on the portrait with her children, or on my avatar, or Therese's.

According to A.KURIL who, to write her book about the Atours of Marie-Antoinette, visited the nationals files in Paris and open the "gazette des atours", Marie-Antoinette had many green dresses...indeed, she liked very much the pale green… the color of the walls of Trianon

Post Re: Favorite color
Her hair was more likely called strawberry blonde, that would be the correct term for it. It is a blonde with a hint of orangey-red. I know quite a few people who have this hair color that I work with, sometimes she's more blonde, at times she's a redhead. It depends on the season. I believe more people thought Marie Antoinette to be more red haired during the Spring season as I've noticed that's the season I see more red haired people comeout who I thought to be blonde before. The sun plays tricks to our eyes when it comes to colors.

I agree, sandy blond means "blond cendré". Fraser believes Antoinette's hair was dark blond (sandy) and turned light brown when she was around 20. She does not hint at red colour, as many historians who think MA was only blond haired. Strawberry blond is more accurate, it is translated in French by "blond vénitien". I guess MA's hair darkened with time, so maybe it was closer to sandy blond at the end.
