This decision has been made for too many new topics were open, muddling the entire board up.

This has been discussed here :
http://www.marie-antoinette.org/forum/viewtopic.php?

Before opening a new topic, it is necessary to make a little search and check if it is not already open...

What new topic do you want to open, please ?

Cordialement,

"Dear Therese, it is like somehow these sounds have the power to re-create a piece of Marie Antoinette's existence for people who are sensitive enough to be able to feel the glads and sorrows of the life of La Reine. That is certainly not the case of all the music, only this special period of time and place and pieces related to Marie Antoinette. I agree, amazing and nothing fake, but as a great gift to us living in the 21st century. And vice versa, I always get shivers when hearing revolutionnary songs Ca ira, Carmagnole etc. and some later compositions of Gossec, for example."

The above is from a much earlier post by Aurora. I have just bought "MA - Plaisirs d'amour"Ses musiques préférées. I know so well what she means - one feels that the atmosphere of the time crosses the time boarder and one feels that one is magically close to the person when listening to the same music. It is so pleasurable to fill one's home with a little piece of the 18th century. Tonight I shall listen with pleasure!

Yes, when I listen to Gluck, I am transported to the Queen's presence.

Talking of being transported to the Queen's presence, I have been listening to the track "Quand on sait bien aimer" from the "Devin du Village" by Rousseau a lot during my holidays. Its on my MA's favourite music CD. It takes you right back to a joyous sunny day at Trianon, the French windows open on to the patio and the Queen singing in her salon and laughing with her friends. I believe that she performed this opera comique in her théâtre de la reine at Trianon? I can't believe how happy and fulfilled that music makes me, its' as if I was made for that time or that I have discovered an "art de vivre" that suits my character. Help! I'm starting to flee contemporary reality!!

Ah, That's exactly "my world" also... 8) sometimes I can feel very priviledged to be able to play those tunes myself (and imagine that La Reine is sometimes listening...or playing through me... :D oui mes amis, je suis passionnée avec tout ca, tout le monde ne le comprend quand-même...)
Nice to be here in the forum salon with other spirits from l'ancien régime.
It is so rewarding to have these exciting discoveries from the "historical"music. Je vous souhaite une bonne journée.

Aurora you sound like a fascinating person! We are all of us truly linked here by a common passion and a love of these bygone times with all their elegance and charm. How I would love to hear you play that song! Even though there are perhaps not too many of us, I find it so special to find people who feel the same emotions as I do about these wonderful treasures from the past.

Indeed, dear ! She also played mandoline... I guess she played harsichord or pianoforte rather than piano... and she sang exquisitely.

Of course, dear Aurora, she is listening when you play ! :D

No, this is not a Chinese, is a Japanese. I study Japanese the time not to be long, possibly translates is inaccurate...

2005 was the 250th anniversary of Antoinette's birth. In commemoration of it, released this CD composed by Antoinette and sung by Ikeda. There are twelve arias and one waltz among the works Antoinette composed. Score was discovered recently. The CD that included in all tunes is the first in the world.
