Post A Week End with Marie Antoinette
I'm seriously thinking of coming over to Paris this summer for a long week end entirely dedicated to Her Majesty.
Which places should I consider including?
I've already taken note of Versailles (of course ;)), La Conciergerie and La Chapelle Expiatoire.
What should I add? Does anyone know Paris well enough to recommand a Tour?

You could add Saint Denis... even if I found very weird in there ! But Louis and Antoinette's statues are just wonderful. She is so beautiful... so Habsburg...

You could also visit Saint Cloud gardens. She loved Saint Cloud so much... and Fontainebleau... and Compiègne...

I have seen none of them already, neither have I visited the conciergerie. I walked in the Tuileries park, and felt special... and completely sick when arriving Place de la Concorde.

But, for a week-end only... Versailles and Trianon would be enough, I think... We feel so good in Trianon little eden...

Indeed I think that to visit all Versailles and Trianon, it's necessary to reserves a big week end
Just for Trianon I could remain there a complete day....

I knew a week end wouldn't be enough...I've been off work studying for 9 months and now that I have just landed a job, I can't really plan to go away for more than 3 days. I was thinking Versailles/Trianon on the Saturday and Sunday and the Paris sites on the Monday. I'm sure I will go twice (at least!!!) anyway... :D
I have to see Trianon and the Conciergerie as well as the Chapelle Expiatoire. Don't ask me why, but I feel those are the 3 places I absolutely must go to.

The chapelle expiatoire can't be visited each day. When I came around, I just can sit in the square and meditate... that was enough for me. But, if you want to see the chapelle itself, you'll have to chack the dates.

I see...I might fly over on a Thursday and visit places on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: French monuments seem to be open during the last days of the week!

Post Planning a Marie Antoinette vacation
This is way to late but my choices are different.

Most of those listed Versailles, Conceigerie are clearly the most obvious and the places to start but beyond those I would recommend two that i've not done and would top my list next time i get back to Paris.

Musée Carnavalet (also called - Musée de l'histoire de Paris)
The link below includes a museum map.

As you'll see a signficant part of the museum in on Louis XVI's reign and on French Revolution. The museum includes one of the few articles of clothing left that MA actually wore - the shoe she lost leaving the Tuileries that was mentioned in the recent book QUEEN OF FASHION.

The second place would be Biblioteque Nationale - where you can see for yourself some of the original documents, pahmphets, and pictures looked over by recent biographers and David Grubin and others who have made recent movies.
