This last one is my personal favourite...by Dumont I believe.

Yes, this is absolutely lovely. Does anyone know what year this was painted?

Your question is not so easy, dear Délicate Fleur... For a long time, this painting was attributed to Vestier. In his recent book, however, Olivier Blanc attributes it to Dumont (this artist who made miniatures), 1779.

Merci, dear Pimprenelle. I find her dress intriguing, for it looks more like a 19th century dress - the bodice and skirt.

Marie Antoinette seems to wear a light shirt, looking almost like a gaulle, and a hunting costume. She used to order such redingotes, based on male costumes patterns.

Thank you dear! I thought the cinched waist look was a later invention, but yes, I do remember reading about the redingotes she wore. And so well!

The protraits have a sense of emotion to them whereas some of the other artists seemed to be focusing on the best way to paint her without showing her imperfections. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
