Post Royal Games
What types of games (card games, board games, etc.) did Marie-Antoinette enjoy during parties? I remember in Sofia's movie the King was playing a game that looked somewhat like pool?http://screenmusings.org/MarieAntoinette/pages/MA_0523.htm Any ideas?

Sounds like billiards. They all played billiards.

I know that they used to play billiard and sort of tennis. They used to play many games with cards but I don’t know particular which they played.

From the screen cap, it looks different to billiards, almost like croquet, with the little hoops to push the ball through. In the movie, during M-A's 18th birthday scene, they look to be playing a game similiar to poker. I read on a website that continental chequers originated in early 18th century France and that they also played whist.

I don't know how they were or are played, but I read in Marie-Antoinette's times and court they used to play billiards, chequers, tric-trac (a fast table game), pharaoh (I think it's a dice game and you have to bet big money), a game called the Great Game of Marly (played when the court stayed at that palace and played with Tarot cards; it was the game Marie-Antoinette liked the worst), and game named The Fear, I don't know why, but I read that when Prince Montbarrey, a Minister of War to Louis XVI around 1778 and who was not a friend to the Queen, was about ot fall in disgrace, Marie-Antoinette and her friends enjoyed and smiled at the prince's face and gestures of fear when they were all playing this Fear game at court, as the different stages of the game and their names evoked continually his imminent downfall.
