Post 1755 the great terramoto in Lisboa
marie Antoinette was born in the day of great terramoto of Lisbon. This event was considered a bad omen for its life. the Portuguese kings were for having been its godfathers of baptism.

No, I mean the fact that the 2nd of November is the day dedicated to the memory of the dead in the Catholic religion; I don't know how the celebration is called in English, though. In Italian it's simply "giorno dei morti". People usually go to the cemetery on that day, to pray on the tombs of their dead relatives and friends.

Oh, sorry
Anyway Polignac meant the earthquake; terremoto is the Italian word for it, so I guess terramoto is the Portoguese.
