I have never seen this portrait of her, it is wonderful. Where did you find it. Is the artist Lecuyer?

I think it is. Besides, I don't really like this portrait, I don't find it very flattering for the queen. There's no accounting for tastes ...!

I think she looks pretty, seductive too. :)

I agree she's charmingly beautiful! Maybe because she looks more a child than an adult in this picture, I think.

Yes, I like it too. Obviously it's very solemn, it represent her in her majesty as queen...I like the more natural one, but I like this one very much as well

It's a bit hard to explain. I find it unatural and lifeless. On the other portrait, painters such as Vigée Lebrun manage to represent her grace, her charm (particularly through her smile and her gaze) which gives us an idea of her demeanour and the way she actually was. What is more, she seems quite chubby on this potrait (I know she was fairly plump, but maybe not to that extent).

As I saw her pictures and read about her looks, I think she was so fragile in 1775 and became a bit muscular after the birth of her childern, but never plump!
(Of course it's only my opinion, I really don't want to pervert your words Ludy :P )
For exemple (to understand me) voilá a detail of a picture of her: you can see that she is square-shouldered and because of this she looks a bit rotund. But she wasn't. I think, it could be fit to her, it gave her a very authoritative and majestic looks!

I'm sorry Anouk ! English is not my mother tongue, so sometimes I use words that are actually a bit too strong. I meant "curvy" "podgy" is this better ? :?

I don't know... I took this picture from ladyreading.net's gallery, situated in "1785-93" section. So maybe before this time, maybe after.
As I know she loved pearls like her mother. She wore simply and beautiful pearl bracelets. And look after Pimprenelle's avatar, on this picture you can see a very nice necklace!!

It's all right! Marie Antoinette was your country's queen (you live in France don't you?) so you've the right to write about her what you think
