Post Can you?
Can you visit Versailles and Trianon, and actually go inside and look round?
I'd really love to do that,as I'm trying to organise a trip to Paris and am tempted to turn it into a Marie Antoinette affair if I am able to go.

You can indeed Rachel and any trip to Paris and Versailles can turn into a veritable pilgrimage for someone who likes MA, as you would be amazed how many places remain intact that MA lived in or frequented. Remember that here is a Queen that only knew Vienna and its' suburbs, and Paris and its' suburbs, apart from one long journey from Vienna to Paris at the age of 15, during which she got to see Strasburg and some other smaller places, and a quick trip to Reims for Louis XVI's coronation. So its' not to difficult to follow in her footsteps! You can ask the advice of certain members here who can point you in the right direction for any Versailles or Paris trip, as to the places she knew or was forced to become acquainted with by circumstance! And Trianon is of course a must, this is where you will find her happy soul in everything your eye passes over! Be aware that getting interested in MA, Louis XVI, the 18th century and the French Revolution is a vast and complex subject , and tends to never let you go once you get started. I started quite late but I'm making up for lost time fast!!!

Here is the website of Chateau Versailles with all information you need to visit Versailles. http://www.chateauversailles.fr/ It also contains some historical information. The site is avaliable in both French and English.

Something important to know is that you can only visit Petit Trainon and Antoinette's estates in the peak season, that is - I think - from April to November. The main building and Grand Trianon, and also the gardens of Petit Trianon is avaliable all year round.

All this information is avaliable at the site, and much much more.

I have that book, it is very interesting and nice to have if you're planning a trip to Paris in Antoinette's footsteps. Also, Adrienne says that the writer is a member here. :D

REALLY?! Interessante.....

When I go to Paris someday, Versailles, Trianon and Tuilerie are definitely on my To See list.

If you go to Versailles, you will love to visit MA's cave and sit down on the exact same place where she used to sit down to 'spy' who was wandering near the place... That's extreme!!!!!!!!
