Don't agree with you there, Pim. France's debt after the American war was massive, and Louis XVI inherited a debt ridden country from his grandfather. Obviously France was in some ways better developed than any other European country (road system) but it quickly suffered from the dependence on its' rural structure (bad harvests, harsh weather) and quickly fell behind its' rival England, home of the new industrial revolution and the riches that brought. In Paris, France's shopwindow, in 1788, 120.000 of its' 600.000 inhabitants were migrants fleeing the poverty caused by the terrible winter and poor harvest. Exports were down, unemployment was hitting the large towns, famine threatened. As Louis XVI states in his address to the Etats Généraux on the 5th May 1789: "The Nation's debt, already immense at my coronation, has increased under my reign, an honorable but costly war being the cause..."

Indeed, I'm still surprised that anyone would make such assumptions. Life was terrible then, maybe Pim was just unclear...

Please clear this up! :]

It depends from which analyse you read. Some historians point out this debt, considering the revolution was inavoidable. Others remind how happy the people actually was under Louis XVI's reign. Contrary to current opinions, the people was not poor. I suggest you to read Yvignac's book, for instance.

So Madame de Polignac, was nothing like Rose Bryne potrayed her, wow!
I thought she was *laughs*

I hate how they make you believe one thing when it is not true.

Can someone please, pretty please that is *smiles* explain to me her personality her ways, was she very talkative? Did she laugh a lott, was she witty, what attracted our beautiful, and majestic queen to her, ever soo much, I wonder.

Intrigue again! *smiles*

Really?

How intresting, I wonder what it did sound like, must have been perhaps appealing, and a nice laugh, not a mischevious or loud one! *smiles* Or let us hope so, thank you! I would have never known this if it wasn't for you, muah!
