Thank you for opening this topic. I haven’t seen many pictures of the accurate 18th century jewelry.

Dear Versailles,

Congratulations on having chosen a great topic. Since you are the only one who can edit your posts, I just want to point out that there are two proper spellings of your title heading: Jewellery........which is British & Australian (& Southern, too, in the past)
&
Jewelry..........which is contemporary American

Forgive me, but I just wanted to help! :)
P.S. I LOVE the pictures. Thanks for sharing!

All the best,
Ray

There are So Many spelling errors on this site and I have mentioned none of them before so believe me when I tell you that I am not being picky. I just thought that you might want to change it as it is a very interesting topic and the error is in the title heading. :)

I have noticed this too but have politely refrained from mentioning it for fear of offending sensibilities here!

Ray's a man of my own cloth, but I don't see any point in correcting errors. This board is international, and we have many people writing in English when English isn't their mother tongue. I think they are admirable. The differences between American English and British English can be profound, and it's up to the reader to figure it out. It took me years, for instance, to find out what "treacle" is. For a long time, I thought it was sweetbreads.

The Hope diamond, BTW, was cut from the French Blue, which Louis XVI wore to his coronation. There is an interesting history of the diamond in the Wikipedia.

Please, don’t correct my errors, I will be depressed. Right now, I am using English language only on this forum. My school (university) starts soon and than I’ll have it as subject again so I can improve it.

Thank you DreamersRose for having in mind all people who write in English when English is not their mother tongue.

It was just auctioned off at Christies for a huge sum!
A purse MA made at the Concierge is being auctioned along with a painting of Louis XVII in prison

GASP! It's the Golden Order of the Fleece! Sorry for some odd reason I always get excited when I see a golden ram hung by a ribbon because I know what it is! It is from the Hapsburg Treasury?

France has decided that the Hope diamond is, in fact, the stolen French Blue and is trying to get the Smithsonian to return it. I don't think they will have much luck, being that it was stolen a long time ago, and the Smithsonian obtained it legally.
