I'm doing a huge paper on Marie-Antoinette and have been reading about her like crazy.
One thing that I still don't understand is in what way she was involved in politics did she have a
big influance in it and did Louis XVI let her involve in political matters?
And was the fact that she was Austrian still such big of a deal when her husband became the King, even after living
in Versailles and France for such a long time?
I know quite a lot questions but I hope anyone can help me!

Although I have not read a few of these I suggest reading a few books. You can look in the Literature section and you will find books to suit your purposes.

I just finished the book written by Antonia Fraser about Marie-Antoinette
really enjoyed but still I'm quite in the dark when it comes to this subject.

I think Antonia Fraser talked about it somewhere (even if maybe not as a separate section)...
The idea I've ganed, from what I've read, is that she didn't have real influence, at least in the main matters of State. She had pressures from her Austrian family to act upon her husband, but she wasn't good at politics or intrigues, and anyway Louis XVI generally resented the influence of his mininsters much more than hers. This was probably at least partly due to the position of Queen in France, that actually didn't comprehend any real power. Of course, the Revolution depicted her like heavily influencing her husband for the sake of Austria, but this was basically a biased image.
She tried to take a more active part in the last years of her life, probably also beacuse her husband was in a difficult psychological condition, and she was, in a waym the one who had to carry on and try to help him.

I hope it can help; anyway, I agree on the fact that the best thing is to look for some historical literature. I hope the literature section in this forum can help!
