Post other movies
I guess I am a late bloomer, but... i just saw the movie about Marie Antoinette, It really didnt help me much, it seems to me in this movie all she did was eat sweets and party and buy dresses and had an affair,Is there a better movie out there that will tell me more about her, Ijust cant believe that she was killed because she was spending money on clothing. To make the children or her suffer in this way, the movie didnt show me the children suffering, only what i have read on this site.

There is the 1938 movie with Norma Shearer, also titled Marie Antoinette. It's not bad for storyline.

I have two documentaries that are better at giving factual information (instead of a storyline like the Coppola movie):

Marie Antoinette: A Film by David Grubin ( PBS HOME VIDEO)

Marie Antoinette: Queen of Versailles

The Norma Shearer movie does a wonderful job of showing MA's whole progress from naive young fiance to worn but wiser victim of the guillotine. It was also Robert Morley's first film role and his portrayal of the tongue-tied young dauphin is sublime.

The film is also remarkably glorious, visually, despite being in black and white.
