Post Wedding Guests
I have been looking with no success for a list of people who were actually present at the handing-off ceremony (when the little queen was handed over from Austria to France). I am particularly interested in the women who might have been there. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction for this?

Thanks!

Madame de Noailles, obviously. But she's a little too prominent for what I'm looking for. Basically, I am thinking about working on a fiction piece about MA, and I want to be scrupulous. I'd like a younger, lesser-known noblewoman whose name I can steal for a character, and I'd also like to accurately be able to mention the people present--or at least, avoid inaccuracy as much as possible. If there really isn't a record of who was there, I can make things up with impunity, but I doubt that that's the case.

From the French side (amongst others), the Comte and Comtesse de Noailles, the Duchesse de Villars, the Marquise de Duras, the Duchesse de Picquigny, the Comtesse de Mailly, and the young son of the Comte de Noailles, the Prince de Poix. From the Austrian side, the Prince Starhemberg, the Comte Mercy (others tba)

Check Antonia Fraser's book Marie Antoinette: The Journey. There's a pretty good description of the hand over in it.

'The Journey' mentions names that were recorded for their official role in the proxy hand over but Fraser does not list them all. If you want an official citation, then Fraser does list the names Baron has given you.
