You are right, Lilly!
Quant á Louis, there is a girl who fell in love with him and created a website about their love :angryfire: So she found him magnetic! Nor do I... I simply cherish him because he was warm-hearted and gentle.

I doubt so! He was kind and mild but... not a special good-looking man :?

Well maybe "handsome" is the wrong word but he definitely isn't as unattractive as we're led to believe. I think poor Louis has been given a raw deal by history. I think the image most people have of Louis is of him in the last few years of his life when he was obese.

I agree with you Anouk - I think that Louis XVI was awkward and not particularly good looking - but a kind and gentle soul.

And this is my favorite even though it is a fashion plate. I think he looks dashing though.

Haha thanks Hellou - at least I'm not on my own on this one lol!!!

In the second image he looks very dignified and noble. Like I said before, he wasn't exactly handsome but definitely not as unattractive as we're told. And he wasn't as elegant and sophisticated as his courtiers, so he was bound to stick out like a sore thumb and appear clumsy etc. compared to them - poor Louis! :king:

What was the date of this second work, Hellou? I think it has been romantized a bit!

I believe it is 1774. It is on the top right corner written in the margin.

Yes maybe it was drawn when he became king.

Look, on the second portrait he resembles to Louis XV very much!

Yes, it's true, I had not noticed that! He just has a different eye-colour
