Post Marie Antoinette Rumor; looking for proof of inaccuracy
A friend of mine recently told me that Marie Antoinette would often eat lima beans which had been cooked, each single lima bean, inside many different animals, which would mean it took many animals to create this one simple meal. I have looked for this rumor mentioned on the Internet but have been unable to find it. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this and if so if they have heard of any articles or information disproving this. Thank you very much.

I honestly have no idea of what you are talking about. Where did this friend hear such a tale?

She didn't remember. I'm thinking this may be one of those things where someone was bored and came up with a crazy story about MA's extravagance just to have something interesting to say, then whoever he told told someone else, then that person told someone else, and so on. I've never heard the story anywhere else though, so I'm not sure if it's even a widespread enough rumor to require evidence on the contrary (as was the case with Louis XVI's "impotency" and MA's supposed "Let them eat cake" which later shaped itself to "Let them eat my crumbs"). I was just wondering if anyone here had heard it.

Okay then, I figure it's a new one; the most untrue ones always seem to travel the fastest. I guess it's the shock value.

I have never heard about this either!
It's probably someone's invention...

My how indulgent! One single bean in each animal? This may not have come from the Revolution - but certainly is a good example of the things made up about Marie Antoinette to show how selfish and extravagant she was supposed to have been. (We know different.)
If you were a poor uneducated peasant and had to endure hunger and hungry children - would you not be inflamed to hear of such a thing? This is the exact desired effect the rumor mongers intended with their continual lies. Imagine Marat publishing these things then personally going out and inciting mobs. Sick minds reek havoc.
