I admire many historical figures, I am particularly interested in artists.

Henry VIII ! I like him as well but I prefer his daughter, Elizabeth.
And I like... there're a lot I like! for example Gandhi. And Louis XV. And Joan of Arc!

I find Gandhi amazing too.

Elizabeth I of England. I think she was a very remarkable woman for her time. She bought stability to England and ended the religious conlicts, and yet she was very much a woman and prone to affairs of the heart.

Christophe: Who is Antinous? And why do you admire him?

Yes I suppose what she achieved was remarkable with it being a male dominated society back then....but that's the nicest thing I can say about her. I'm really not a fan of the Tudors at all.

We don't really know too much about him (his character etc.) but I find Attila the Hun very interesting.

Oh my, it's difficult! Actually, MA is the first historical character for whom I've felt such a strong attachment...but of course there are others I admire.
Jesus of course is the first one, but to me he is not just an historical character, as I'm a Christian...so I consider him out of the list :rainbow:

Otherwise: I certainly like Joan of Arc, Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
And of course the Romans... I admire Julius Caesar, I find him a charming character.
But my favourite heroes are usually writers and poets!

We are so alike Rosalie. I find Caesar amazing too. I like Sulla too, there is one bust I particularly like 8) . I am interested in Neron too, I like that quote QUALIS ARTIFEX PEREO. Even If he didn’t say it in my mind it shows his real perception of himself and it is funny knowing his life. I like Isabella d’Este and her sister Beatrice, Madam de Pompadour...

When it comes to artists I separate the artist whose art I like and artists who I find interesting as people (such as Salvador Dali, even I am not a fan). I like Carravagio, Frida Kahlo…

There are just too many people, historical figures, who are worth admiring in some aspect.

Hmm. She is so so interesting, but I don't think she'd ever be my favorite tsar. She had a correspondance with Voltaire, whereof, I also can't decide I like or hate him...

Of all historical female figures, I'd have to say that Cleopatra VII is the most fascinating to me. Of the males; there are so many---Emperors Nero and Hadrian, Herod the Great, Alexander... there are just so many!

Catherine of Aragon
Anne Boleyn / Mary Boleyn

In this instance my interest isn't so much with Henry VIII of England but with the the women of his life. I know that there were other women that came into and out of his life but it is the triangle of these three that has caught my attention.
