Obviously the guide is incorrect, the exhibition is online as it is traveling across the country but I do not know whether the book is as well. I had never heard it before but I know I do not know everything about her. I suppose most people wouldn't question it here. Thank you for clearing it up.

Yes, it is a shame but I have many times heard guides give false information. It is sad and confusing.

I do wonder if this is based on fact and maybe someone close to her traveled to New Orleans, or if they made it up completely, I am traveling this fall to New Orleans and am wondering if anyone knows of any of the royal family traveling there. Sorry if this is off topic for this post.

Yes. It sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. Although she did try to leave France.

I find this all quite rediculous, thankfully I didn't spend the $49 to purchase an incorrect book!

This one is pretty although my favourite is of Marie Antoinette in the white, muslin dress.

It would be interesting if someone could put a date
on this painting... the exact time that MA was sitting for her
so we could get things into perspective.

From memory I think Mme Vigee actually taught painting and drawing
at Versailles for a time.
Maybe she also did more than one portrait of MA ?

Oh yes! As I know she painted variations on her... can somebody show portraits which represent her in the same theme?

Thanks in advance :)
