I found this via a link from a blog. The link is from Christie's Auction House. It is a fragment of one of Antoinette's dress while she was in Temple that is the famous/infamous color "puce". It also has English net lace attached to it. I hope you enjoy this as much I have/do. If you want a rough translation on the details I can help.

A rough translation through yours truly,

A fragment of a puce silk dress with embroidered branches of jasmine with English point lace.

"Puce" means flea. I read somewhere that the color of the flea, hence puce, came into fashion at some point.

Once I have enough time I'll whip out my copy of Queen of Fashion and post a good description of the color.

For those who missed it, I posted the origin just a bit above, quoted from someone else.

I read that it was Louis XVI that came up with the colour "puce" and that the description was adpoted at court. It of course means flea coloured.

It is a beautiful colour...and would have went very well with her hair. I would also love to own the fragment of her dress. I think It also says that it was exibited at Versailles in 1955.
