Post Have you been to visit anywhere that was significant to MA?
I recently went abroad for the first time in my life... drove to France and visited Versaille... infact I dressed up as MA as I swanned around Versailles! Didn't spend long at the palace, spend most of my time in the Queen's Hamlet. It's inspired me to be more like her... hence the start of my jewelry company Dauphine Jewelry!

You?

p.s. how do I post a photograph?

It is forbidden by the authorities to go around Versailles in costume so I doubt the veracity of your claim.

Trust me, it was a mild costume! I can post a photograph to prove it. But hey, thanks for the warm welcome. I'll be leaving now.

There, hopefully that photograph has uploaded... I really don't understand why you think I would lie about such a thing. How ridiculous.

It's alright DauphineJewelry, I am sure Baron's intent was not to hurt you, so please stay. You look lovely at Versailles! Very sweet. :)

Thank you. Sorry for my snap decision... it just upset me a bit.

I'm silly.

I did get a few dodgy looks when I walked in in a big puffy lacey dress and knee high socks with lace trims... I had customised them myself with pink and blue bows and lots of pearls! I also had a big blue butterfly in my hair, and a lace parasol... my shoes were £75 too... but lovely shoes, all cream and gold with pearl and flower embellishes!!!

What an inspired moment! I can tell that you enjoyed the theatrical side of Versailles, it would be a journey to remember.

I would recommend browsing some of the Trianon and Versailles threads in the art and architecture sub-forums here.

I shall do... Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, I wasn't sure where to post a thread about so many different places spanning different countries :)

That's not a costume, its' a dress!

But you're very pretty in it....

Sorry I'm in a funny mood, something got to me today. I'm not usually nasty, am I ladies?
I bow down before you Madame in your wonderful 18th century costume and humbly beg your forgiveness.... :angel8:

You are most definatly forgiven! It was more of an outfit close up, but a couple of props were left at home! So have any of you been to Austria? Or have you all just been to Paris & Versaille?.. I was looking at a special MA weekend tour, which looked great, but cost about £3000.

I have read Diana Reid Haig's 'Walks through Marie Antoinette's Paris' and a guidebook to Versailles when my parents visited in the 1970's. Does that count?

I am planning to visit France, Spain and Austria in 2011. Even with plane flight, it is more of a journey - or as I like to call it,
'Grand Tour' - from Australia. I have felt for a very long time that my heart/spirit belongs in France.

DJ I had a look at your jewellery work on Facebook - a lovely enterprise! Good on you.

Post Re: Have you been to visit anywhere that was significant to MA?
My other half travels the world for a due to his job, and he tried to keep it a secret from me that a couple of weeks ago he landed in Vienna en route to Brno (I think?!). I was so jealous! That's where I want to go next on holiday...

Oh the stuff is rather rubbish at the moment, I want to make it more Marie-fied... but I have limited funds. At the moment it's just from that as it was a pair of earrings I made to wear to France, and I bought a keyring from Versailles that I converted into a necklace (just a heart shaped portrait in a gold frame)... Marie Antoinette was a springboard! But thanks :-)
