 Hello to all!
Hello to all! Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member to the forum. As the name "History Detective" implies, I am fascinated with history. Eighteenth Century history is my particular passion, and I am currently researching the life of Marie Antoinette for a writing project. I'm looking forward to learning much about her and about the royal court, and I will no doubt have many questions for you all. Can't wait to start posting!

 Re: Hello to all!
Bienvenue! We hope enjoy your stay here during the research period and continue to enjoy this community. How did you first come upon the 18th century and Marie-Antoinette in particular?

High school literature class introduced me to A Tale of Two Cities, and I have had an interest in all things 18th Century France ever since (that was a very long time ago, by the way). Currently, I'm working on a writing project that requires me to do a great deal of research about Marie Antoinette, and as I was looking up some information on the Internet I came across this wonderful forum site. I've been doing a lot of reading about Marie Antoinette and about Versailles--and it's been very helpful that I know a little of the French language, or I think I'd be really dead in the water with my work. I'm hoping you all might be able to help me with some questions that so far I have not found answers to.

If you speak some of the language, you might find some additional help at the Boudoir de Marie Antoinette forum where they also have lots of knowledge and sources. They are very friendly and welcoming. Do try it. http://maria-antonia.justgoo.com/forum

 Re: Hello to all!
History Detective - I share your interest in solving the little mysteries history presents us. Finding Nicholas Fouquet is one of the mysteries that has been on my mind. He is not buried in the place he is reported to be in Paris - I have gone looking for him with no success! Anyone got any idea where Nicholas Fouquet is?

Anyone got any idea where Nicholas Fouquet is? Hi, Lilly! Is this the same Nicholas Fouquet who was imprisoned by Louis XIV? If I stumble upon any valuable information about him, I will certainly send it your way.

 Re: Hello to all!
Yes History Detective it is the same Nicholas Fouquet. He is supposedly buried in the crypt at a church called St. Mary of the Visitation on the rue Saint-Antoine in Paris. He is not there.
