Oh yes it would be nice to try it but it's impossible because of the price...

This is getting worse - it would be so brilliant to actually smell this product and us mere mortals are very unlikely to do so due to the cost.....

That is so frustrating.

arrghhhhhhh......

We did, Vivienne. On November 5th, 2005, there was a colloque in Versailles. The whole day was devoted to Marie-Antoinette. Elisabeth de Feydeau, who wrote the book about Fargeon, let us smell Marie Antoinette's perfume. It is very strong, and rather strange for our today tastes. I think jasmine is heavy in it, as well as, maybe, tuberose. These were the dominant scents, as long as I remember. I kept it in my notebook, and smelt it secretly for several days... It was strong, indeed, and also ebriating... a scent that would enchant and mesmerize you... Waow !

You too? Ok so I'm not alone! Ouf! Thank dear Pimprenelle!

Ah I agree this perfume which gave us Elisabetht de Feydeau on 5 November was really splendid! It was primarily made up of natural products, and thus its composition is heavy and difficult to make... thus expensive.
But the result is astonishing: a natural perfume, extremely, and which lasts a long time!

Post A Nose for Marie Antoinette
Elisabeth de Feydeau: A Nose for Marie Antoinette

More than 200 years after meeting her death at the guillotine, Marie Antoinette remains one of the most enigmatic figures in history. Elisabeth de Feydeau uncovers a unique perspective on the French monarch by tracing the story of Jean-Louis Fargeon in A Scented Palace: The Secret History of Marie Antoinette’s Perfumer.

Elisabeth is professor at the Versailles School of Perfumers and a cultural adviser to some of France’s greatest perfume houses. The biography examines Jean-Louis’ rise from a humble family of perfumers to personal perfumer to the young queen for 14 years and then traces the bloody events of French Revolution from his position as a court insider..................follow http://www.abebooks.com/docs/authors-co ... deau.shtml for interview....

This biography of Elisabeth de Feydeau is really very interesting and instructive! We learn much from things about Fargeaon, but too about the perfumes, the odors and the means of use :D

Those fragrances Marie Antoinette enjoyed... Rose, violette, iris, tuberose, jonquilla, lemon, orange flower, vanilla, cinamon, amber, and not too much of musk. She loved a perfume close to nature, smelling of flowers instead of those heavy animal scents in Versailles, musk and civette. Maybe she wanted to feel like walking in her gardens of Trianon... with just a subtle memory of her childhood in Austria, and those Viennese pastries... ?

I would love to have had your experience Pim !!!

I am very interested in aromatherapy, and just love the beautiful essential oils ( that you listed above ) that were favoured by MA.

Thanks for telling us about it.

Vivienne.

Welcome on this forum madame_viper! :D

Thank you for this information on the perfume!
It should not yet be officially on sale, because the person in charge for Versailles must send to me a mail for informing me about the sale of the perfume. He had already said me that the sale would be done in December.
But you assure us that it is for soon!
