I never understood one thing: was she a suporter of Napoleon? I always though that she was only married with him because she was obligated to, and that when he was exiled she became more happy!

She was forced to marry him, and would wipe her mouth everytime he kissed her. Yet, there seemed to have blossomed some affection between them. Yes, she left as soon as she could and made no effort to join Napoleon in exile. Josphine was planning to join him but she got sick and died.

Yes I like Joséphine, too... her history is fascinating 
Marie-Louise was un unlucky girl... she was forced to marry Napoleon in order to save Austria from French invasion and devastations of war, despite her anti-French and anti-napoleon upbringing.
And when Napoleon was exiled to Elba, she came back to Austria and knew the Count Neippberg who became her lover and her second husband.

I don't like Napolean. He has an interesting story but he is a war monger and I don't support that at all....He was only out for his own personal glory....

J'adore Josephine! I have pictures of a statue of her and napolean from Versailles... if i get time ill get them uploaded for all to see. Josephine was a very interesting woman, If i remember correctly she loved the Opera, and loved to throw parties. (She had the first party ever held at the Ritz in Paris) She was a fine example of a servant leader, the people adored her, and she them.

And yet we must constantly hear Bonaparte extolled as a hero, and Louis XVI called a weak king, when Louis XVI showed great courage when faced several times by the mob whereas Napoleon fled when he had no more soldiers to protect him.

The problem is that, for French people nowadays, France became with the revolution. Their Marseillaise refers to the revolution, and their three colours also, their Marianne... as if there were nothing before the revolution.
All that existed before July 14th, 1789 is prehistory !

The Revolution, and Bonaparte immediately after, happened at a time when there was more means to spread propaganda than ever before. I think that provides at least a partial explanation to the enduring reputations of the Old Regime as the dark ages, Louis and Antoinette as a weakling and an airhead and those who succeeded as heroes.
