 new book ?
Did we want to try again with a new book for January? I have nothing in mind, but I did like the idea of the discussion.

We can do a new book for January Melly. We're sort of in the habit of moving changing from fiction to non-fiction so if anyone has a suggestion for a work of non-fiction for us shout it out now and we'll organise something for the new year

In its origal form(french) it was by Andre' Castelot and the book that I'm reading is translated by Deise Folliot.

André Castelot is a very good historian!
His books about Marie-Antoinette and Marie-Thérèse are very complete

Indeed... even if Castelot is not very sympathetic to Marie Antoinette...

I picked up Knight of the Maison Rouge by Alexandre Dumas at the library book sale. Does anyone have any opinions on it?

 Re: new book ?
Castelot's book is my absolute favorite and I've had it forever however for a slight change I suggest [u] Versailles The Biography of A Palace]/u] by Tony Spawworth. This book answers all the questions about who got what apartments--promotions, demotions, latrines, baths, cleanliness, the stress of trying to stay near the monarch and maintain your place in society. This book is fascinating and has a bibliography and index--some pictures.
